Recording your lessons using Microsoft Teams

Recording meetings in Teams is a great way to create video content for your students to review. You can do this by either creating a Teams meeting through your calendar or alternatively you can use the Meet Now option in the Team channel (note that students will be able to join the live meeting as it will appear in the Posts stream).

Screen Recordings using PowerPoint

Creating a screen recorded lesson using PowerPoint is a simple way to quickly capture and share content with your students. 

• Open PowerPoint on your desktop
• Select the Insert tab and choose the ‘Screen Recording’ option at the end of the ribbon
• This will automatically minimise PowerPoint and prompt you to select the area of your screen you want to record

• By clicking ‘Audio’, you can choose whether you want the recording to capture audio or not. The recording will capture both sound from yourself (if you have a microphone) and sound generated from webpages or videos. 
• You can select or unselect your mouse pointer
• You can pin or unpin the recording bar by clicking on the pin icon in the bottom right corner of the recording bar. If you pin this, it will be visible in your screen recording. 
• When you are ready to record, click the ‘Record’ button and prepare as it counts down from 3
• Begin your lesson, selecting and sharing your content. You can click freely between different web pages and programs. 
• Utilise the ‘Pause’ recording button by hovering your mouse at the top of your screen for the recording bar to drop down again
• When finished, click ‘Stop’ and your screen recording will automatically be inserted into PowerPoint onto a slide. From here, you can save the PowerPoint with your video included or alternatively, you can save your screen recording as a video file by right clicking on the video and selecting ‘Save Media As’. This can then be uploaded as a video to Stream, OneDrive, Youtube, Teams etc

The great thing about Microsoft Teams is that it brings all of your frequently used apps and tools together in one central space. Simply ‘Add a tab’ to your classroom team and select Stream. Enter the link to your class channel and now all of your video content is readily available for your students viewing.
